On Friday, June 11, the long-awaited Euro Football championship started, that was not held in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. The final match of the most unusual Euro championship will take place at London Wembley Stadium on July,11.

Euro 2020 will last exactly one month and will be hosted by different eleven European cities, and this is not the only exciting fact about this championship.

Many fans and just simple viewers have been wondering: why Euro 2020, but not Euro 2021?

Initially, Euro was scheduled for June-July 2020. The Covid -19 pandemic made its adjustments. So, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to hold the tournament in 2021. The tournament name was remained unchanged for two reasons: First, Euro -2020 was supposed to become a jubilee dedicated to the 60-th anniversary of the debut European championship of 1960. Second, at the time of the championship rescheduling last year, the main part of paraphernalia, billboards, and goods with Euro-2020 symbols had been already produced. It was decided to use them in the current year not to waste resources and do harm to the environment.

Games under the Championship will be held within the whole of Europe, but only in those countries and cities where the pandemic situation is considered satisfactory. The local authorities of the eleven cities confirmed that fans will be allowed. Bilbao and Dublin failed to provide the given warranties. As a result, Bilbao was substituted by Seville. The matches from Dublin were shared among the other cities hosting the tournament. Namely, three extra matches will be held in St-Petersburg.

Here is the final list of the cities hosting Euro-2020- Amsterdam, Baku, Budapest, Bucharest, Glasgow, Copenhagen, Rome, Munich, Seville, St-Petersburg, and London.
