The time has come when talking about global environmental trends has become much more important than fashionable ones. In this situation, when sports competitions, fashion shows, grandiose shows are canceled all over the world, when brands are forced to close their boutiques and even suspend production, the only thing that every person has to do is to be conscious. Despite the fact that many people around the world have started to be more conscious of the environment, we still cannot avoid various environmental disasters and climate change. But the trends of a conscious life on the “green side” have already been set and each of us can begin to follow them so that tomorrow our life will become better than today. Reasonable consumption of the resources of our planet is not just words, it is almost the only way to preserve our planet. Today we are going to tell you about the main lifestyle trends of 2020 that will determine our near future.

An important trend in 2019, which has definitely continued in 2020, has become a conscious approach to the choice of goods - primarily from an environmental and ethical point of view. People are increasingly interested in where and by whom the purchased goods were created, whether animals suffered during production, what are the working conditions in manufacturing factories, whether the production of the goods is harmful to the environment, whether the purchased goods can be recycled or recycled environmentally. All of these requests are forcing manufacturers to make more ethical products. The trend towards ethics is especially acute in the world of fashion and beauty. Since 2017, designers have been actively moving away from the use of natural fur, finding an ethical alternative to it. The use of innovative materials allows companies to explore new frontiers of creativity in design while meeting the demand for ethical fashion. Over the past five years, Chanel, Gucci, Burberry, Furla, Versace, Jimmy Choo, Diane von Furstenberg, 3.1 Phillip Lim and many other brands have already abandoned the use of natural fur. Thanks to such a social project as Fashion Revolution, the world learned about the working conditions at the factories of large fashion brands, which subsequently also affected the demand of buyers.

Strange enough, but even in the era of transition to the "green side", luxury is still one of the main trends. Although today luxury is more about high-quality, unique and durable goods than about items full of brand logos for one season. For example, on the red carpet Oscars 2020, many celebrities appeared in images that fully correspond to the concept of eco-friendly. Margot Robbie, Kim Kardashian and Joan Tucker dug up the archives of Fashion Houses and appeared in vintage outfits at one of the most significant events of the year. Actresses Saoirse Ronan, Lea Seydoux, Caitlin Dever and Olivia Colman were one step ahead in their preference for sustainable fabrics and recycled materials. Olivia Coleman opted for a Stella McCartney dress made from ecological velvet. And the diamonds that sparkled on the actress's earrings were artificially grown in special "ethical" laboratories.

Fresh trend in the fashion industry today is clothing made from recycled materials. The need to manufacture clothing and footwear from recycled plastic is now particularly acute in the fashion world. Light industry is the second most polluted in the world. Clothes based on recycled plastic are produced not only by sports brands, but also by well-known Stella McCartney, ETRO, Nike, H&M, Levi s, Adidas, Asics, American Apparel, Topshop, Marks & Spencer, Max Mara. For example, this year, in honor of World Oceans Day, ETRO created a down jacket made entirely from materials sourced from 120 recycled plastic bottles.

By the way, the fight against plastic is another global lifestyle trend that is supported not only by eco-activists, but also by many celebrities and influencers. According to recent research, more plastic products have been produced in the world over the past 10 years than in the previous century, and the amount of plastic waste floating around in the North Pacific today has increased 100 times over the past 40 years. In order to reduce such depressing statistics, each person just needs to change their usual way of life a little: replace plastic bags with cloth bags, glasses for glass kipkaps, plastic tubes for glass and paper alternatives, disposable tableware for reusable containers. Sorting waste into biodegradable and non-degradable waste has also become a part of the lives of people who choose the path of conscious consumption.

Another major lifestyle trend is the gradual transition to electric vehicles. Now there is a rapid development of the electric vehicle market, which experts associate with an increase in demand: more and more people are worried about the environment and the tangible consequences of the harmful human impact on the environment. Thanks to this, large automakers (including BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and others) also began to produce electric vehicles, which increases competition and, ultimately, makes electric cars more affordable. By 2025, Norway will stop using fuel-fueled transport, by 2030 - Germany, Ireland, Israel, India, and the Netherlands. Sooner or later, the trend will reach the Russian car industry, but the refusal of fuel in our country is hampered by many economic factors.
